主讲人简介: Prof. Dan Lunt is a distinguished climate scientist at the University of Bristol and an Affiliate Scientist at the National Centre for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado. He leads the international DeepMIP program (www.deepmip.org) and served as a Lead Author of Chapter 7 of IPCC 6th Assessment Report (AR6). His research centers on past climate change, focusing on understanding past climate changes and the mechanisms behind them and distilling insights from the past to inform future climate projections. As an expert in developing and running Climate and Earth System models, Prof. Lunt applies computer simulations to address key hypotheses related to past and future climate change—with a particular focus on the role of paleogeography in shaping climate over geological timescales. His scholarship has made important contributions to multiple critical areas of climate science, including the study of past warm climates, the Eocene-Oligocene transition, Phanerozoic climate evolution, and the use of model-data comparisons to enhance understanding of future climate scenarios.
